8th Guru Pornima
*Education the light of Unity.*
On the occassion of Guru Purnima, a felicitation programme was held for the teachers belonging to different religions around the vicinity in Byculla on the 8th of July.
It was truly joyous to see so many teachers from different schools attend and be part of the programme. The guest of honour was Bhikshu Morita who resides in the neighbouring Buddhist Monastery.
Bhikshu Morita gave us an insight on how Byculla has grown, where people live together in harmony inspite of practising different religions.
One can easily spot a Jain temple, a mosque,a gurudwara, a synagogue a church and other places of worship all in the vicinity of Byculla.
All living together in religious harmony .
Fr. Lawrence Dsouza the spiritual mentor of inter religious dialogue cell at Gloria Parish Byculla spoke on how we teachers play a vital role in communal harmony. Readings from the Holy scriptures from different religions were read. The students of St. Agnes High School put up a prayer dance.
This was followed by a short video on communal harmony.The teachers were handed a sapling of the tulsi plant.
We thank Fr. Lawrence, our principal Sr.josefine and all who gave off their time to arrange this programme.
It was truly inspirational and thought provoking.
