An empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description.
Two women played an important role in the history of India, one being Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule and the other Veermata Jijabai.
Savitribai Phule played an important and vital role in improving women’s rights in India. She is considered to be the pioneer of India’s feminist movement. She worked to abolish the discrimination and unfair treatment of people based on caste and gender.
Jijabai, a pious and intelligent woman had a great vision for an independent kingdom. She was a true source of inspiration to her son, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, as she guided and shaped his mind instilling in him values from his early years.
On 3rd January, we celebrate the birthday of Savitribai Phule, the first lady teacher of India and on 12th January we celebrate the birthday of Veermata Jijabai.
To honour these two great women, a series of activities were planned by the Education Department.
Our children participated in various activities like fancy dress, essay writing, fort making, etc.
