Eco Club Activity: Waste Management.
The Eco Club organized an activity on managing household hazardous waste, e-waste, and sanitary waste to spread awareness among students of Std 7–9. Members presented talks, PPTs, demonstrations, and videos to highlight safe practices.
Students learned that hazardous waste like expired medicines, batteries, paints, pesticides, and e-waste can harm health and the environment if mixed with regular garbage. Sanitary waste such as napkins and diapers must be wrapped, marked with a red dot, and disposed of properly to avoid infections.
They were encouraged to:
-
Store hazardous waste separately in labeled containers.
-
Return expired medicines to pharmacies and e-waste to authorized recyclers.
-
Use eco-friendly alternatives like herbal cleaners, rechargeable batteries, cloth pads, and menstrual cups.
