*Keeping Kids Safe: Learning About The POCSO Act*

* “Empowering children with knowledge is the first step towards creating a safer world for them.” *
At St Agnes High School, the safety and well-being of our students are of utmost importance. On August 2nd, at 11 am, we took a significant step towards empowering our children with knowledge and awareness by organizing an interactive session on the POCSO Act for students of class 5 to 8 in the senior school hall.
The session began with an introduction to the crucial topic of Good Touch and Bad Touch. The students were then shown the movie ‘Komal,’ which effectively conveyed the message of personal safety. Our esteemed speaker, Sr. Arina RJM, a member of the Pontifical Commission, led the session with great expertise.
Sr. Arina educated the students about various forms of child abuse, including emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. She emphasized the importance of informing trusted adults if they ever become victims of abuse. A helpline number, 1908, was provided for immediate assistance.
In light of the growing concerns around cybercrime, Sr. Arina also enlightened the students about the dangers of the internet and how to protect themselves from cyber predators. Her insights were invaluable in helping our students understand the importance of internet safety.
After the session, the children were invited to discuss and share what they had learned, reinforcing the critical lessons from the session. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sr. Arina RJM for dedicating her time to this crucial cause. Her efforts have significantly contributed to empowering our students with the confidence and knowledge they need to protect themselves and seek help when necessary.
Thank you, Sr. Arina RJM, for helping us take this vital step towards our children’s safety.
