Talk on “Growing Up”- Std: VI
16th July 2019.
As Children grow older, they experience certain changes in their body. However, sometimes they feel conscious of these changes especially when they begin to menstruate. At times they may not know what is happening or whether it is normal and what measures do they require to take. In order to create an awareness, a talk was conducted for the children of Std: VI in their respective classes by a few students of the Grant Government Medical College on 16th July 2019. The topic was on “Growing Up”.
Through a diagram of the reproductive system, children got themselves acquainted with the organs of the reproductive system and the changes they experience in their body as they grow up.

They were also briefed on the meaning of menstruation, proper sanitation and hygiene to be maintained during menstruation and the do’s and don’ts. Demonstration was done on how to place and use a sanitary pad and later dispose the same.

Queries were answered and doubts were cleared.
On the whole, it was a wonderful interactive session, where they learnt the basics of menstruation, keeping in mind that it is absolutely normal, so that they can be prepared for it and be ready to accept the transition into womanhood.
